Tierra Melanie Nesmith, 37, of the 2100 block of Homer St. of Philadelphia, faces a felony count of fraud stemming from an incident at LA Fitness in the Huntingdon Valley section of Upper Moreland Township.
A victim contacted the Upper Moreland Police Department after receiving a text message that there was fraudulent activity on one her credit cards, according to police. Upon entering the locker room, the victim noticed that her car keys were missing. The victim then went to the parking lot where she discovered her car was unlocked, according to police.
The victim told police that her purse was missing from inside the car, which had several credit cards in it. She reported to police that a Bank of America credit card was used at a nearby Rite Aid in the amount of $500. A Chase credit card was denied for a $400 purchase at a CVS in Warminster.
After a review of CCTV from LA Fitness, police were able to determine that a female entered the gym at 10:05 a.m. with her child and enters the women’s locker room. At 10:11 a.m., the woman and child exit the building and the woman is seen accessing the victim’s car, according to police. At 10:13 a.m., the woman and her child are seen leaving the premises in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee.
A police officer went to the Rite Aid and was provided receipts for three $500 gift cards that were purchased. Each receipt had the last four credit card numbers that matched the victim’s credit card numbers.
