A threatening situation within the Hatboro-Horsham School District now is under control, according to police.
According to the Hatboro Police Department, officers were notified by multiple parties on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at 7:49 p.m. about threats made online via Snapchat directed at students attending Crooked Billet Elementary School.
Police immediately started to conduct an investigation to assess if the threats were credible and identify those responsible for making them.
"Within two hours, it was determined the account the threats were made from was fraudulent and purporting to be an uninvolved third party," said Chief Mark D. Ruegg. "The people responsible for making the threats were identified in short order and interviewed by police. Those identified are juveniles. The investigation is ongoing so the identities of those involved are not being released at this time.
"Through our investigation it was determined there was no threat to the students or faculty of Crooked Billet Elementary which would necessitate any changes to the normal school schedule," Ruegg added.
Classes are running as normal today, Thursday. Feb. 13.
"The Hatboro Police Department and the Hatboro Horsham School District are committed to the safety and well-being of the Hatboro Horsham Community and work hand in hand when situations such as these take place," Ruegg said.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding as these types of incidents can be stressful for students and families. Additional information will be provided by the Hatboro Police Department at the conclusion of the investigation," Ruegg said.
