The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) is pleased to announce that Sandra M. Edling will be named as the Deputy Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. With over twenty-nine years of dedicated service to MCIU, Ms. Edling brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing educational excellence across Montgomery County.
Ms. Edling began her career at MCIU as an employee benefits facilitator and advanced to become the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Business Services—a role she has held for the past six years. Throughout her tenure, she has played a pivotal role in solidifying the financial strength and operational efficiency of MCIU, guiding strategic initiatives that have positioned the organization as a leader in educational services. Beyond her financial leadership, Ms. Edling has been instrumental in spearheading MCIU’s efforts in policy and legislative advocacy, ensuring that the needs of Montgomery County’s schools and districts are heard and addressed.
“We are thrilled to have Sandy step into this new leadership role,” said Dr. Regina Speaker, Executive Director. “Her vast experience, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to our mission make her the ideal person to serve as our new Deputy Executive Director. As Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Edling will oversee key organizational initiatives, strengthen partnerships with school districts and educational stakeholders, and continue to advance MCIU’s mission of providing high quality services and solutions that empower students, educators, and communities.
