Police responded to a stabbing at a Horsham Township residence on Dec. 19, 2025, that left a woman hospitalized and her adult son in custody.
According to the Horsham Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:35 p.m. to a home on the 300 block of Summer Avenue. When officers arrived, they detained Michael Neary, 33, who was identified as the suspect.
The victim, his mother, suffered stab wounds to the chest and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition was not immediately released.
Police said family members who were inside the home at the time described a sudden and violent incident. According to statements given to investigators, the mother had entered the living room and sat down to speak with her son when he began expressing distress and claimed he was "hearing voices." Moments later, police say, he went into the kitchen, retrieved a knife, and attacked her while she was seated.
Neary’s sister attempted to intervene, but was unable to pull him away and ran outside to call 911. His father then entered the room, restrained his son, and was able to disarm him. Police said the father also secured additional knives in the home to prevent further injury.
Officers arrived shortly after and took Neary into custody without further incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet released information on charges or the victim’s current condition.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
