During the final Borough Council meeting of 2025, Council President George Bollendorf announced that the meeting would be his last serving in the role of Council President for Hatboro Borough.
Bollendorf was first elected to Borough Council by Hatboro residents in 2018 and is set to begin his third term on Jan. 1, 2026. During his first two terms, he was repeatedly nominated and elected by fellow council members to serve as Council President, a reflection of the confidence they placed in his leadership and commitment to the community.
Over the past eight years, Bollendorf has presided over nearly every Borough Council meeting, missing only two meetings during that time. In his role as Council President, he worked closely with all council committees to ensure they had the resources, guidance, and coordination needed to make informed decisions on behalf of the borough.
Beyond his formal duties, Bollendorf played a key role in expanding community engagement in Hatboro. He established the Pennypack Events Committee and helped launch and grow several popular community events, including Sip N Shops, Parties in the Park, the annual fireworks celebration, the Hatboro Hat Drop, and other borough traditions that have become staples of local life.
Although he will step down as Council President on Jan. 1, Bollendorf will continue to serve on Borough Council and remain actively involved in borough affairs. He plans to continue serving on council committees, volunteering at community events, and offering support and guidance to the next Council President.
Council members, Mayor Schultz, and borough staff thanked Bollendorf for his leadership and dedication, recognizing his lasting impact on both borough governance and community life. Officials said they look forward to continuing to work with him in 2026 and throughout his next term on Borough Council.
