The Upper Moreland Township Police Department, together with the Horsham Township Police Department, Hatboro Police Department, and Upper Dublin Police Department, hosted their first-ever “Shop with a Cop” event on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at the Willow Grove Walmart.
Officers from all four departments were joined by community volunteers from Second Alarmer’s Rescue Squad and the Upper Moreland Fire Department as they spent the afternoon shopping for holiday gifts and clothing with 34 children from neighboring communities. The event began with a cheerful visit from Santa Claus, setting a festive tone for a day filled with excitement and holiday spirit.
While officers helped children select gifts, families enjoyed refreshments, and volunteers assisted with wrapping presents to ensure the experience was smooth, memorable, and meaningful for everyone involved.
“Shop with a Cop is about more than holiday gifts—it’s about building trust, creating memories, and showing our children that their community stands beside them. We are proud to partner with neighboring departments, volunteers, and sponsors to make this day possible, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.” said Chief Scott Bendig of the Upper Moreland Township Police Department.
The event was supported by generous donations from Walmart, Sam’s Club, and the Upper Moreland Township Police Department Benevolent Association. Their contributions helped provide each child with a joyful and impactful holiday shopping experience.
The Upper Moreland Township Police Department plans to continue and grow this new tradition, further strengthening community connections and supporting families throughout the region.
