A Springfield Township man and former youth baseball volunteer has been sentenced to 10 to 20 years in state prison for sexually assaulting two underage girls he met through social media, according to a report.

Tyler James Degiacomo, 35, pleaded guilty to multiple felony sex charges involving a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old he contacted on TikTok and Snapchat. Prosecutors said he groomed both victims by giving them alcohol and vape pens before engaging in sexual acts between December 2023 and March 2024.

Judge Wendy G. Rothstein called Degiacomo’s actions “predatory” and ordered an additional six years of probation, placing him under court supervision for 26 years. He was also designated a sexually violent predator, which requires strict supervision, mandatory counseling, community notification, and lifetime sex-offender registration.

According to the report, the victims were 14 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents. Degiacomo encountered the girls on TikTok or Snapchat and groomed them for sex by providing them alcohol or vape pens.

Court documents did not indicate for which organizations Degiacomo previously volunteered as a coach.

Testimony revealed the victims suffer from nightmares and self-esteem issues as a result of Degiacomo’s conduct.

An investigation began in March 2024, after the mother of a 15-year-old Springfield Township girl told police she discovered sexually explicit messages on her daughter’s phone and feared the teen was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a man in his 30s named “Tyler,” according to a criminal complaint filed by Detective Stephen P. Craig.

Detectives uncovered more than 110,000 interactions between Degiacomo and the girl when they reviewed the contents of his cellphone, court documents indicate.
