As holiday shopping and seasonal travel increase around Horsham, police are reminding residents that this busy time of year is also a peak season for thefts from vehicles.

Horsham Township Police say thieves often look for easy opportunities, especially cars where wrapped presents, shopping bags, electronics, purses, or other valuables are left in plain view. In many cases, these “quick grabs” turn into broken windows, vehicle damage, and significant financial loss.

To help residents protect themselves and their belongings, police recommend the following safety tips:

  • Stay alert and walk confidently while scanning your surroundings
  • Park in well-lit areas and, when possible, near surveillance cameras
  • Trust your instincts if a situation feels unsafe
  • Vary daily routines to make patterns less predictable
  • Always lock your vehicle and take your keys with you
  • Store gifts, packages, and bags in the trunk or out of view
  • Never leave your vehicle running and unattended unless it is locked using a remote start feature

Police also encourage residents to report any suspicious activity immediately, as timely reporting can help prevent thefts and identify suspects more quickly.

The Horsham Township Police Department encourages everyone to take a few extra moments to secure their vehicles and valuables.
