Hatboro Borough officials have been informed by Montgomery County that the long-awaited West Moreland Avenue Bridge Replacement Project is officially underway, according to an announcement.
At this stage, the contractor is coordinating closely with utility companies to complete the relocation of essential utilities, which must be done prior to construction. In addition, tree removal work in the project area has begun to clear the site and prepare for the next phases of construction.
Once these preliminary tasks are finished, West Moreland Avenue will be fully closed to traffic, and the contractor will begin the process of dismantling and replacing the existing bridge structure. Residents and commuters should be aware that this will result in detours and changes to local traffic patterns. Clear signage will be posted in advance to help drivers navigate the closure safely and efficiently.
It is important to note that this is not a Borough-led initiative, but rather a Montgomery County project, as this section of West Moreland Avenue is classified as a county-owned road. The Borough will continue to act as a communication partner, sharing updates, timelines, and any impacts to the community as soon as that information becomes available from the County.
