At the Committee Council Meeting held on Aug. 18, 2025, Hatboro Borough Council reviewed a proposal regarding the Shopper’s Lot parking sign located on Moreland Avenue.
The request was brought forward by the developer of the Milliner Lofts, who asked that the sign be updated to reflect that parking in the lot is available not only for shoppers but also for Milliner Lofts tenants. As part of this request, the developer has offered to cover the cost of the design change entirely, ensuring that there would be no expense to the Borough.
Borough Council carefully considered the proposed design during the meeting. However, before making a final decision, Council members determined that additional community input is important. For this reason, the item has been tabled to allow residents and local business owners the opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback.
A rendering of the proposed updated sign was provided to officials for review. The Borough of Hatboro encourages all residents and members of the business community to participate in this process by submitting feedback.

The long-vacant CVS property at 26 South York Road has been redeveloped into a modern four-story building, featuring 36 residential apartments along with ground-floor retail space designed to enhance Hatboro’s downtown district.
The new apartments, described as “high-end” and geared toward professionals, include 19 one-bedroom units and 14 two-bedroom units, offering a range of options for future residents.
This project became possible following the Hatboro Borough Council’s adoption of a mixed-use ordinance in January 2023, which was approved after a well-attended public hearing with approximately 50 community members present.
The ordinance provides developers with the opportunity to propose taller buildings—up to 60 feet in height—if certain guidelines and standards are met. This adjustment means that portions of York Road, stretching from Byberry Road to Montgomery Avenue, may see future development that rises above the previous 35-foot height restriction, creating opportunities for additional housing and business growth in the borough’s downtown.
