Residents have continued to ask about the status of the McDonald’s restaurant, located on Easton Road in Horsham Township, which has remained closed since experiencing a fire in December 2024.
The incident, caused by an electrical issue primarily in the basement, resulted in significant smoke and water damage throughout the building, necessitating a full closure for repairs and restoration.
Despite the setback, the owner of the restaurant has confirmed plans to reopen and is actively working toward that goal, according to Horsham officials.
The ownership team has submitted plans to Horsham Township for improvements designed to enhance the customer experience and streamline operations.
One of the key upgrades includes a redesign of the existing drive-thru layout. Rather than adding a second lane, which some community members have speculated about, the project will focus on extending the length of the current drive-thru lane and introducing an additional service window. This change is intended to reduce wait times during peak hours, which make up the bulk of the restaurant’s business.
New pedestrian lamps and enhanced landscaping will also be added along Easton Road.
While the owners had originally hoped to reopen by the end of 2025, the timeline remains fluid and could extend into early 2026 depending on construction progress and permitting processes.
