The Borough of Hatboro proudly honors the outstanding dedication and service of its volunteer firefighters, everyday heroes who make extraordinary sacrifices to protect their community.
These individuals, members of the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro, serve entirely on a volunteer basis, responding to emergencies at all hours and under all conditions, often putting themselves in harm’s way for the safety of others.
As the nation celebrated National Volunteer Firefighters Day, Hatboro took this opportunity to recognize the selflessness, bravery, and commitment of these men and women. Volunteer firefighters don’t just answer the call during times of crisis, they train tirelessly, maintain equipment, and participate in community outreach, all without compensation. Their efforts form the backbone of the Borough’s emergency response system, providing a vital service that is often taken for granted but impossible to replace.
"The men and women of the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro give countless hours of their time for the Borough, and we are extremely thankful for each and every one of our volunteers and those from surrounding companies that answer the call every day both here in the Borough and around us," Borough officials wrote in a statement.
The fire department in Hatboro is 100% volunteer-based. These volunteers respond not only to local calls but often assist neighboring communities as well, embodying the true spirit of mutual aid and civic responsibility. Their work is a powerful reminder of what it means to serve with honor and humility.
Equally deserving of recognition are the families of these firefighters. They too make sacrifices, giving up time with their loved ones, often in the middle of family events, holidays, or long nights, so that others may be safe. The strength and support of these families play a crucial role in enabling volunteers to do what they do.

Nationwide Donations
State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) have teamed up for the second year to support local volunteer fire departments with funding to secure needed equipment to help keep their responders safe and protect their communities. Through this year’s Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, 150 departments in 44 states received a $10,000 grant, for a total of $1.5 million donated.
The announcement was made on Aug. 18, a date many celebrate as Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day. Volunteer firefighters make up 65% of the U.S. fire service, and communities across the country rely on volunteers to respond to emergencies of all kinds, from structure and wildland fires, to vehicle crashes and medical emergencies, to natural disasters and hazmat incidents.
