The Horsham Police Department was dispatched to the Blair Mill Village Apartments, located at 100 Upland Avenue in Horsham Township, for a report of suspicious activity.
According to court documents, a male knocked on a resident’s door and when the resident answered, the male said, “have a nice day.”
As a police officer canvassed the scene, he observed a shirtless black male holding a green towel. The police officer asked the male to come over and speak with him, but the male walked the other way toward Alison Road, according to police. The male then entered a Jeep Wrangler displaying New Jersey registration.
The police officer approached the man in the Jeep, and the man signaled back to police officers with a thumbs up gesture through the driver side window. The male then attempted to put the vehicle in gear and start the car, but was unsuccessful.
The police officer, believing that the vehicle may not belong to the male, opened the door and asked the male if the car belonged to him. The male responded, “yes, it is,” and “You see me sitting here, right?”
According to police, the male refused to answer additional questions about his identity or the vehicle. The driver remained completely emotionless, silent, and a strong unaffixed gaze, which led the police officer to believe he may have been suffering from a medical emergency.
Further investigation revealed that the car was stolen out of Philadelphia since July 27, 2025.
The officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, and the driver refused to do so, at which point, the Horsham police officer physically removed the driver from the vehicle without incident.
Due to the driver’s behavior, police requested the male be evaluated by emergency services. The male continued not to speak, and was transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital.
The male was given numerous opportunities to identify himself via name and date of birth to officers and hospital staff, but he refused.
The male, listed as John Doe, is now being charged with a felony charge of receiving stolen property.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
