The Borough of Hatboro has announced that Fire Marshal Kate Valesky has received a new supply of smoke detectors through a continued partnership with the American Red Cross. These smoke detectors are offered free of charge to any resident or business owner in Hatboro or Horsham who may be in need.
Smoke detectors play a critical role in early fire detection and have been proven to save lives. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the risk of dying in a home fire is reduced by half when working smoke alarms are present. Unfortunately, many homes either lack detectors entirely or have units that are not functioning properly.
Whether you are a homeowner, renter, or operate a business within the borough or township, you are encouraged to check your current smoke alarms. If you do not have one installed—or if you are unsure whether your existing alarms are working—Fire Marshal Kate Valesky is available to assist.
