A Horsham resident is facing felony charges stemming from a traffic stop in Abington Township, according to police.

On July 26, around 12: 15 a.m., a police officer from the Abington Police Department was patrolling the area of Maple Avenue and Limekiln Pike when it observed a silver Chevy sedan with dark tinted windows traveling west on Limekiln Pike in the North Hills section of Abington Township.

Due to a cover over the license plate, police officers were not able to read the registration, which caused the officers to initiate a traffic stop, according to police. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the car to be registered in Florida, which was expired as of July 14, 2025.

Police made contact with the operator of the vehicle, identified as Ja'Vion Bernard Ware, 22, of the 100 block of Welsh Road in Horsham Township, according to police.

Police were able to see a mylar bag consistent with marijuana packaging in the center console, according to police, a burnt roach on the floor of the driver’s area, and smelled an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to police.

While speaking with Ware, according to police, Ware’s hands were shaking while attempting to use phone. When Ware stepped out of the vehicle, he told police that he had a firearm under the driver’s seat and that he did not have a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon, according to police. Police observed the firearm sticking out in plain view.

After a search of the vehicle was conducted, police recovered a Glock 17 9mm handgun, according to police. The 17-round magazine was fully loaded and the chamber was empty, according to police. Police also recovered a box of Winchester 9mm bonded jacketed hollow point bullets, according to police.

Ware faces a felony charge of firearms not be carried without a license.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6 at 11:00 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Juanita A. Price.

Ware posted bail, which was set at $25,000.00.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
