An elderly female who became trapped in her red sedan after a critical crash with a dumpster truck has been taken by Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad to St. Mary's Medical Center Tuesday afternoon on the borderline of Northampton and Warminster townships.
A call was reported around 3:22 p.m. on East Bristol Road between Wordsworth Drive in Northampton Township and Newtown Road in Warminster Township. According to Bucks County emergency dispatch, the patient was reported to be conscious, but trapped in the car.
The sedan was destroyed in the crash and in the rescue: The roof was completely cut off by first responders and the front end and driver’s side sustained severe damage in the crash, scattering debris across East Bristol Road.
The dump truck from Tinari Container Service was carrying a large dumpster and sustained severe front-end damage to its driver side and front left wheel and axle.
A Temple MedFlight helicopter was cleared to land at Warminster Community Park around 3:45 p.m. for possible transport of the elderly patient.
Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad out of Northampton Township was called to assist other first responders at the scene, including Warminster Police, Northampton Township Police and Northampton Fire Co.
Warminster Police are handling the investigation.
Avoid the area.
Editor's Note: This story was amended Wednesday, Aug. 6 to reflect that the patient was taken via ambulance to St. Mary's Medical Center and not via Temple MedFlight to Temple University Hospital, according to Bucks County investigators and prosecutors.
