Kiana Hartsfield, 28, of Bronx, N.Y., faces multiple felony charges after she was caught attempting to cash a fraudulent check in Horsham, according to police.

On Thursday, April 24, a police officer from the Horsham Township Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Citizens Bank located at 200 Blair Mill Road in Horsham Township.

Upon arrival, the police officer spoke to the manager of the branch, who stated that a female attempted to cash a bad check and then walked out of bank.

The woman was described as a slender woman wearing pink pants. A short time later, police officers observed a slender woman wearing pink pants at Ollie’s, which is in the same shopping center at 200 Blair Mill Road.

According to police, the female attempted to cash a check for $6,800. The name account holder on the check was a male’s name, and the check had a signature indicating the male’s name, according to police.

The bank told Hartfield they would need to contact the male since the check was issued out of state. The male was unable to answer any of the security questions pertaining to the bank account or check.

According to court documents, the bank’s manager was notified about on-going scams in which a specific phone number was being used. This phone number was the same number that was listed as a contact number for the name on the check.

The female stated she was attempting to cash a check to buy a vehicle on Facebook Marketplace. However, according to police, the memo line on the check read “spring tuition.”

She was later detained and then positively identified by the bank manager as the person who tried to allegedly cash the bad check, according to police.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
