The Eagles selected University of Texas safety Andrew Mukuba with the 64th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday night. The most important thing you need to know about the pick is that Matthew McConaughey approves.

After starting 31 games over three years with the Tigers, he joined the Longhorns for his senior season and intercepted five passes (tied for the most in the SEC).

Mukuba ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at this year's scouting combine. A little undersized at 5'11", 186 lbs., Mukuba nonetheless has a reputation for physicality:
Andrew Mukuba was a blue star player (one of my favorites) for me in this class. Needs to gain weight, but the instincts, physicality and coverage skills are excellent.

"Hard ass hat," indeed.
Prior to the draft, Bleacher Report described the newest Eagle as an "athletic defensive back with the versatility and instincts to be a playmaker in the secondary." The publication added that "Mukuba's ball-hawk tendencies and ability to track and react to passes in the air have made him a standout in coverage, while his physicality and willingness in the run game further enhance his value as a prospect."

Mukuba helps fill a need for the Birds, who lost Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay, and Isaiah Rodgers from their secondary group this offseason.
