The community of Hatboro is rallying around a family that nearly lost it all.

On March 31, a fire broke out at the home of two Hatboro residents who live on the 200 block of S. Warminster Road. The blaze destroyed their home and forced the two occupants, Tracey and Caitlin, to move to an apartment in Horsham Township for the time being.

Fortunately, nobody was injured during the fire and the house cat made it out safely, but the recovery from the emotional and physical damage that transpired is going to take some time.

“We are feeling sadness after the devastating loss our friends Tracey and Caitlin are experiencing after their home and all of their belongings were destroyed by an electrical fire at their apartment in Hatboro on March 31,” said Clayton Walsh, president of Charity in Action. “Fortunately, Tracey, Caitlin and Mittens (the cat) are all safe but heartbroken.”

Charity in Action, a non-profit, organization whose mission is to “vet the immediate needs of people who have fallen on hard times and act fast to get relief to the people who need it as quickly as possible, has set up a fundraiser through Social Media for Tracey and Caitlin.

“Tracey and Caitlin need BIG help getting back on their feet after a devastating house fire that destroyed everything,” said Walsh.

“Anyone who knows Tracey and Caitlin knows they are two of the kindest, sweetest, most selfless and caring women you will ever meet. These ladies are always there for anyone in need.”

According to Walsh, Red Cross has already provided clothing, but now the two residents are in need of financial assistance.

“Really, cash and gift cards are best right now,” said Walsh.

The Fire

Multiple fire companies responded to a house fire on the 200 block of S. Warminster Road in Hatboro on Monday, March 31, night just before 5 p.m.

Reports indicated that the house was “fully involved” in flames. The only occupant in the building was a household cat, which made it out of the dangerous situation unscathed.

“They constrained the fire to the front room of the apartment,” said Hatboro Fire Marshal. Kate Valesky. “A cat was trapped inside the building, but was found alive and well.”

The cat was originally going to be transported for an evaluation, but “seemed relatively fine,” according to Valesky.

No injuries were reported to emergency crew members or victims.

Emergency crews from Horsham Fire Company, Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro, Upper Moreland Township Fire Company, and others, responded to the scene.
