The Hatboro-Horsham School District is mourning the loss of one its students.

Ryan Killen, a student at Hatboro-Horsham High School, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 17. He was 16-years-old.

“The Hatboro-Horsham School District is deeply saddened by this loss,” Hatboro-Horsham Superintendent Scott Eveslage said. “During this difficult time, our priority is to support the family and our students, staff, and community members who are grieving.”

The Hatboro-Horsham School District is providing counselors and clinical staff at all district schools to help students and staff cope with the loss.

Eveslage said that out of respect for the family’s privacy during this difficult time, no other details or comments will be made public at this time.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and all those affected,” Eveslage said.

A Go Fund Me has been set up in Killen’s name.

“Ryan was a sweet boy who loved the outdoors and would often be found, fishing, biking, skiing or out with his dog,” it said on the GoFundMe page. “We are heartbroken for the Killen Family and hope to surround them with love, prayers and much needed financial support during this unimaginable time.”

As of publication, $10,000 of a $12,000 goal has been raised. Nearly 100 people have donated to the cause.
