National Pretzel Day was established in 2006 by then-Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania to honor the state's rich pretzel heritage, as Pennsylvanians consume more pretzels per capita than any other state in the U.S.
It is celebrated annually on April 26, so this weekend you can score a tasty treat for free.
National Pretzel Day has become a snack-lover’s dream, with big pretzel chains and local bakeries offering freebies, deals, and promotions Several establishments, like Philly Pretzel Factory and Auntie Anne’s, offer free pretzels and special deals to celebrate the day:
Philly Pretzel Factory locations, including the Horsham location, will distribute one free pretzel per guest, with no purchase necessary.
“Everyone who comes through our door, that day, gets a free pretzel,” said Mindy Blumberg Loose, owner of the Horsham Philly Pretzel Factory.
Free pretzels will also be available at these Philly Pretzel Factory locations:
Glenside Philly Pretzel Factory, 501 Edge Hill Road
Abington Philly Pretzel Factory, 1836 Old York Road
Southampton Philly Pretzel Factory, 555 2nd Street Pike
Auntie Anne's, located inside the Willow Grove Mall, will provide a free Original or Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel to Rewards members who redeemed the offer via their app.
Whether soft or crunchy, salted or glazed, pretzels are a staple in American snack culture, and this day is all about celebrating that.
Soft pretzels are a staple in Pennsylvania. The state is a major hub for pretzel production. In fact, 80% of America’s pretzels are made in Pennsylvania, especially in areas with strong Pennsylvania Dutch influence.
