Horsham Township is mourning the loss of one of their own.
William Moody, the former Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Building Inspector and lifetime member of the Horsham Fire Company , passed away at the age of 89 on March 18.
Recently, Horsham Township took the time to show their respect for the longtime Horsham resident.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of William Moody,” Horsham Township wrote. “Bill was a longtime resident of Horsham Township and cared deeply about our community.”
Moody retired in 1997 and moved to Florida for his remaining days. He passed away at the St. Francis-Reflections Hospice Care Center in Melbourne, Fla.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the Moody family,” Horsham Township wrote. “We thank Bill for his service to our community. Rest in peace.”
According to his obituary, Moody was born in Philadelphia to the late Watson and Ethel Moody. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (married for 64 years), his son David, his sister Ethel Drysdale, his granddaughter Melissa (Moody) Thompson and his grandson Jacob Moody.
William is survived by his two sons, William (Vickie) and Richard (Lisa). Also surviving is his sister Betsy (Marty), many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He enjoyed Boating, Fishing, Golfing, trips to the Jersey Shore and spending time with his Family.
Services and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Philadelphia.
