Crews extricate trapped passenger during vehicle rescue after accident on Pennsylvania Turnpike

The incident occurred on Wednesday night at 11:47 p.m.

One person was extricated from their vehicle and transported to an area hospital after being involved in a single-car accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-276) at the Willow Grove exit in Upper Moreland Township.

On Wednesday, April 16, at 11:47 p.m., emergency responders from the Upper Moreland Township Fire Department and Second Alarmers Rescue Squad assisted in the vehicle rescue.

A dark-colored SUV sustained heavy front-end, passenger side damage, causing one of its wheels to come off. A tow was required at the scene for the vehicle. 

The Pennsylvania Turnpike was reduced to one lane for a short period of time as crews processed the scene. 

The extent of injuries are unknown at this time.
