Bucks, Montgomery fire crews respond to Horsham chimney fire Monday night

Montgomery and Bucks county fire crews responded Monday night to a chimney fire in Horsham Township that temporarily shut the roads down around Rutledge Avenue in all directions.

According to Montgomery County emergency radio traffic, a fire was reported in a chimney of a home on the 900 block of Rutledge Avenue at 7:20 p.m., and homeowners were advised to evacuate.

Warminter Fire Co., Horsham Fire Co., Wissahickon Fire Co., and Fort Washington Fire Co. responded to the scene, along with Horsham and Wissahickon fire police units.

Firefighters could be seen on the roof of the home during their investigation, per reports from the scene. At one point, fire crews pulled back flashing and soffit from the top of the chimney, exposing burning embers and smoke from inside the chimney area of the home, according to reports.

There were no reported injuries.
