Friends of Graeme Park welcome those 14+ to a spooky night to remember

If you haven’t gotten enough spooky tingles from the Halloween Season, you’re in luck, because the theme continues into this weekend. The Day of the Dead, celebrated on Nov. 1, is a time to celebrate deceased family members, and like Halloween, is riddled with legends about a “thinning” of the space between the living and the dead.

Perhaps that will play a role in the upcoming event at Graeme Park the same night. Slated for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, the public (ages 14 and over, 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult) is invited to attend a Paranormal Investigation at the Keith House!

Hosted by the Friends of Graeme Park, the event will be held at the home itself, located at 859 County Line Road. The long-rumored haunted mansion in Horsham is in for a thorough investigation. The Friends organization, who aims to preserve the site and educate the public about its rich history, said that the location has had “paranormal happenings” throughout its past, “since the early 19th century when Elizabeth Graeme passed away.”

Constructed in 1722 for Provincial Governor of Pennsylvania, Sir William Keith, the house and property were originally called “Fountain Low” as there are many springs on its original 1,700 acres, according to the Friends’ website. After a battle with the Penn Family, Keith was removed from his position, traveling to England in hopes of bringing his family back, but sadly died before he could return.

The history continues, according to the preservation group, with Dr. Thomas Graeme came to own the home, living lavishly and entertaining through his time there. Learn more about the lives that were lived (and some that were lost) as the family made the most of this historic living space as you tour each room, seeking the paranormal.

Small groups will be paired with an investigator as you make your way through the massive home.

“You’ll have the opportunity to explore all three floors,” said the organization’s website. “You may bring your own equipment if you have it.”

The event will welcome armature detectives to try their hand and discovering what may be lurking in the Keith House. Investigators will lead groups through their experienced detection methods and various equipment.

Tickets for the Paranormal Investigation event are $50 each and include light refreshments. Tickets are recommended to be purchased in advance, as a limited number of spaces are available.
