Perhaps you’d like a constructive way to spend some free time. Maybe it is simply a matter of a desire to give back to your community. There is even maybe just the off chance that you are seeking to meet new people and get to know those residents in and around the Borough.
Whatever your personal reason, volunteering can be a fulfilling and amazing experience. Without volunteers, the Union Library of Hatboro couldn’t accomplish its goals.
“Volunteers play a significant role in the Union Library by providing valuable assistance to library staff and customers,” said a recent post on Facebook for the library.
The library, which has been in existence since 1755, is the second oldest library still operating under its original charger in the state of Pennsylvania. While the library has its own board with seven members, an advisory council board of seven members, and a single Emeritus Board member, volunteers are necessary to keep the place humming.
The Union Library of Hatboro also has staff operating in full- and part-time workers, including Library Director Christine G. Law, as well as the Library Assistants Stacey G. and Danielle L.
However, volunteers are still needed to help with day-to-day operations.
“Our goal is to place volunteers in areas that will provide a meaningful experience for you, while contributing to the library’s service in the most effective way possible,” said the library’s site
The library works with each individual to create a schedule that works for them.
“Whether you are looking for an ongoing volunteer opportunity or are just interested in helping out with a special event, we value your interest in serving our community through library service,” said the social media post, seeking more volunteers.
