The Friends of Graeme Park are no strangers to history. With its goal to maintain and educate others about Graeme Park’s 42 acres, including the Keith House, the only surviving residence of a colonial-era Pennsylvania Governor, the Friends are always hard at work to bring the past back to life.
Perhaps since it is the organization’s year-round mission that makes it so prepared for the spookiest time of the year: Halloween. To coincide the the holiday fun, not to mention a little bit of history mixed in, the Friends of Graeme Park will host “A Walk Among the Graeme Ghosts” on both Oct. 11 and 18.
Held from 7 to 11 p.m. each of the Friday nights in October, the Friends will lead guests as they “step inside the ghost story” to explore the “haunted halls” of Graeme Park.
“Over 300 years of spirits are active on the property, and as the veil things between the spirit world and our own, the staff and volunteers cannot control the ghostly activity on site,” said the Events page website for the group.
Those interested in exploring the past, perhaps first-hand, are invited to “step inside the spirit realm” with tours each night at 7, 7:45, 8:30, 9:15, and 10 p.m. Volunteer guides will assist guests through the park and will even provide time to work with a hired medium among the evening’s happenings after nightfall.
“Maybe you can finally put the spirits to rest,” said the Friends’ page.
Those interested can purchase tickets online here. Once you have selected a date, the time choices are available via a button labeled “7 to 11 p.m.” You should not be alarmed, as that is the entire event running time, but on the screen following, you will be able to select a desired ticket time.
Guests are asked to arrive prior to the posted time to be ready to meet and prepare for your tour. The tours last 30 to 35 minutes in length. The cost of the event is $20 per person.
Graeme Park is located at 859 County Line Road in Horsham. For more information on the ghostly event, visit www.graemepark.org or call 215-343-0965.
