Santa spends all year at the North Pole working hard to both monitor the behavior of children, determining who will make the Naughty or Nice lists, but also to assist and direct his elves in making toys. For those lucky enough to snag a spot on that “Nice List,” you might even find the results of his hard work placed under your tree on Christmas morning.
But this year might be a bit different. This year, Santa is asking you to bring him a toy. But don’t worry. It’s for a very good reason.
Santa Claus is making an early stop in Upper Moreland Township, and he wants the children of the community to be ready for his brief but thorough schedule. And, he asks that you bring along that toy, too!
Santa makes his way to the township on Sunday, Dec. 8 thanks to a scheduled escort from the Upper Moreland Township Fire and Police Departments. The tour of town will begin at 10 a.m., and this year there is a new feature to the festive event, too.
Santa will be using his special “tracker” to keep the community informed of his location. Simply scan the QR code here, and you can watch Santa throughout the day as he weaves in and out of the streets of Upper Moreland. You can also visit https://glympse.com/!uppermorelandtracker for more details.
After his busy day, Santa will be stopping by the firehouse from 3 to 5 p.m. to do photos with all and to hand out treats. The departments ask that guests bring a new, unwrapped toy to contribute to the #MakeEveryKidHappy program.
The toys are then donated for the holidays for those fortunate. For more on the program, which was started by an Upper Moreland student four years ago, read our story here. Calvin himself, the mastermind of the project, will also be there to meet guests.
All are invited to the free social event at the fire hall, 227 Davisville Road, in Willow Grove. For more information on Santa’s big visit, call 215-659-7633.
