Flyers to add Chevrolet Logo to their Helmets and Provide Some Fans with Free Parking Tonight

  • Flyers

Three years ago, fans freaked out when the Flyers became the first NHL team to have a helmet sponsor, when the TCS of Tata Consultancy Services was scribbled across their white and black domes.

That unappealing logo lasted one season, and none have returned to the top of the players heads....

Until now.

One year after sending the same fanbase into a frenzy with the addition of the blue IBX patch on the white and orange and black sweaters, the Flyers are going back to the sponsorship well, this time adding Chevrolet logos to the helmets.

The team will start to don those helmets tonight when the Flyers host the Carolina Hurricanes.

“Chevrolet is a historic brand, known for its toughness, reliability, and strength,” said Todd Glickman, Chief Revenue Officer, Comcast Spectacor. “These are all qualities that define the Flyers team and organization, and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a renowned brand at every home and away game.”

The Flyers are partnering with the Local Chevrolet Dealer Group. They will also get digital signage inside the Wells Fargo Center and have a vehicle on display on the concourse near the 11th street entrance.

Fans will get a perk out of this deal too. Well... some fans... and for one night.

Any fans who arrive at tonight's game driving a Chevrolet will receive free parking for the game.

So, if you have tickets, but don't own a Chevy, call a friend who does and ask them to swap cars for the day so you can save $25 to come watch the Flyers skate around with their new helmet logo.

I will say, this sets a whole new standard for this going forward. Whoever future sponsors are must, in perpetuity, agree to provide some sort of freebie for fans on the first night the sponsorship logo is unveiled.

Hope the Flyers are paying attention, because now it is written, and so it shall be.
