Nothing says the holidays like tried-and-true traditions. And nothing says tradition quite like the annual Hatboro Holiday Parade.
Now in its 64th year, the celebration will hit the parade route from around 1:45 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 24. However, York Road will be closed from at 12:30 to 5 p.m. The Hatboro Chamber of Commerce welcomes all to the yearly event.
"Each year thousands of spectators line up along the York Road parade route to celebrate and share in this season of thankfulness and hope," said Timothy Schultz, Hatboro Chamber president and parade chairman. "We want to showcase the borough's terrific businesses and community spirit with this colorful and lively free family event which is the largest celebration of its kind in Montgomery County."
According to the chamber, the parade will include floats, high school marching bands, string bands, military units, area youth and dance groups, fire and rescue units, scouts, community organizations, dignitaries, and public officials.
The route is mapped out along York Road. Visitors are welcome to find seating along the path, from Summit Avenue to Newington Drive. The event is rain or shine. It is sponsored by Hatboro Federal. The theme for this year is “Hatboro Home for the Holidays.”
Special guests will include the Phillie Phanatic, who will kick of the event at 1:45 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the close of the parade, per annual tradition! The local Hatboro scouting troops will also work along the parade’s route with wreath carts.
Children can bring along letters to Santa, too! Letters will be collected by Santa’s special helpers, UPS. The entire parade is operated thanks to donations and sponsorships.
