Hatboro-Horsham High School will induct seven athletes and one team into the 2025 Athletic Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Jan. 10, 2025. A Selection Committee of administrators, community members, and current and former coaches and teachers reviewed the nominations to select inductees.

“We are proud to honor these athletes’ legacies and sportsmanship as we welcome them into this distinguished group,” said Dr. Dennis Williams, principal of Hatboro-Horsham High School.

Craig Hammer (1982) —Three-sport captain (football, basketball and baseball). He was a 1st team All Bux-Mont selection at quarterback, broke the passing record in the Montgomery County All-Star game, and was the Today’s Spirit Newspaper Player of the Year for football. He also averaged 22 points per game in basketball and was a 1st team All-Area selection. All-State Honorable Mention was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team and was the Today’s Spirit Newspaper Player of the Year for basketball. Hammer also played shortstop for the Bux-Mont Champion Hatters baseball team, where he was an All-League selection. Hammer went on to play basketball at Division I Rider University.

Jim Reichwein (1982) — Reichwein was a three-sport varsity athlete at HH and captain of all three teams (football, basketball and track). All-Conference and All-District selection in football. Jim won nine varsity letters during his high school career at HH. Always considered the consummate team leader, there weren’t many better than Reichwein. He continued his football career at the University of Kentucky, where he was a four-year letter winner and an Academic All-American. After leaving Kentucky, Reichwein signed a free-agent contract with the Detroit Lions.

The 1997-1998 Boys’ Basketball Team — This Hatboro-Horsham boys’ basketball team may be the best basketball squad in school history. The roster had extraordinary talent, notably led by Matt Carroll, who earned First-Team All-State Honors and was named the Player of the Year in Pennsylvania. The Hatters clinched the title of the Suburban One League’s Liberty Division, a feat made even more impressive considering the division housed three of the state’s top five teams: Norristown, Plymouth Whitemarsh and Hatboro-Horsham. The team concluded the season with an impressive 27-5 record, only meeting their match in the Eastern Final against Williamsport. Many of the players from this roster went on to play college basketball.

Jen Northcott (2001) — A post-player for the Lady Hatters, and four-year starter, Northcott was a 1,000-point scorer for the basketball team. Upon her graduation from HH, only three other girls’ basketball players reached the 1,000-point mark. Known for her tremendous defensive intensity, she averaged a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds a game in her senior year. She went on to play basketball at Lebanon Valley College, and at the time of her graduation, she was the university’s fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,200+ points and the first men’s or women’s player to collect 1,000 rebounds.

Brian Tomko (2001) — As an undersized center in the tough Suburban One League, Tomko was able to amass over 1,000 points in his career and almost that many rebounds. Tomko was the MVP in the Hatter Tip-Off tournament in his senior year. Known as an excellent defender and offensive rebounder, he was voted to the All-Suburban One League team. After HH, Tomko continued his basketball career at Philadelphia University with legendary head coach Herb McGee. Tomko had a very successful career as a collegian and at the end of his senior year, he was voted to the top ten small college players in the Philadelphia area.

Dayna Burleigh (2002) — Burleigh was Hatboro-Horsham’s first female golfer and the first to play on the HH Boys’ Golf Team from 1998-2002. Freshman year: Finished 5th in Districts,19th in States. Sophomore year: District 1 Title and placed 2nd in States. Junior year (Team Captain): First-Team All-Conference and All-District Selection, placed 2nd in Districts and 3rd in States. Senior year (Team Captain): PIAA District 1 Girls Championship, 4th in States, Team MVP, First-Team All-Conference and All-District, and Player of the Year. Dayna earned a Division One Scholarship to Michigan State University, where she has the sixth-lowest career average in MSU history, with a 77.53 average. She was elected as the 2003 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Herb Courtney (2003) —Throughout his illustrious career, Courtney achieved numerous impressive feats, such as scoring a total of 1,400 points and earning a nomination to the prestigious 2003 McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Team. During his time in Suburban One, Courtney stood out as a force to be reckoned with, leading the conference in scoring during the 2003 season with an impressive average of 22.3 points per game. His excellence on the court earned him a spot on the 2003 Intelligencer Super 16 Basketball First Team. Notably, Courtney’s outstanding performance led him to be crowned MVP and Player of the Year in the Suburban One League. After high school, Courtney pursued his basketball career at the University of Delaware, where he continued to impress and was named to the Second Team All-Conference in his senior year.

Jessica Romano (2006) — Romano was a standout player for the Lady Hatters varsity basketball team from 2002 to 2006, earning four varsity letters. Romano was a three-time, First-Team All-Intelligencer selection while also earning Suburban One Continental Conference First-Team Honors as a junior and senior after being a second-team pick as a sophomore. She was named team MVP as a junior and senior and ended her Hatter career scoring 1,136 points. Following her high school success, Romano continued to excel at Philadelphia University (now Thomas Jefferson University), a Division II program, where she was a four-year starter. During her tenure, the team consistently posted 20-plus wins per season. Romano earned First Team All-Conference honors three times.
