With the early dismissal from school on Friday, Dec. 20, the Hatboro-Horsham School District will officially release students for Winter Break. Students return to class on Thursday, Jan. 2, meaning in total, the “12 days of Christmas” will last just that.

With nearly two weeks of time off, chances are you will begin to seek fun ideas to entertain your kiddos through this break. Luckily, the Horsham Township Library has a solution for you.

The library rents out its in-house Museum Passes to families in and around the township. All you need to check one out is a valid Montgomery County Library card. Take your card up to the front desk and ask to check-out any one of the available passes. The passes can be checked-out for a period of three days. There are no holds or renewals on museum passes.

There is a wide variety of choices, providing township families with plenty of ideas to keep children busy (and, shh, don’t tell them… possibly learning) all winter break long.

Choices for passes include:

Just one pass per family can be taken out at any one time. Passes can only be checked out with an adult library card, and the card must have no fines on the account.

Passes cannot be reserved ahead of time, but rather are checked out on a first-come, first-serve basis. This could be a fun way to add to the adventure, leaving your museum viewing location up to chance! While you can both call ahead and check the page here, there is no guarantee a pass will be on-hand when you arrive at the library.

The passes are made possible thanks to the Friends of the Horsham Library, whose mission it is to “stimulate public interest in our library and to support the needs and library programs.”

If you need assistance on how to find the museum passes in the online catalog, the library even has its own “HTL Geek Speak” video on the matter. Here, you can learn how to find out more:

For more information on the programs and services available at Horsham Township Library, visit the location in person or contact Bryan at [email protected] or 215-443-2609 ext. 208. The Horsham Township Library is located at 435 Babylon Road in Horsham. To view the library’s hours, especially around the holidays, visit https://www.horshamlibrary.org/hours-holidays.

If you are out of luck on Winter Break seeking the museum passes you were hoping for, the Hatboro-Horsham students are out of school once more on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20. On Monday, Jan. 27, students are also off for a Records Day (for those in grades 9 to 12)/Staff Development Day (for teachers K to eighth grade).
