It seems most news sources are turning their eyes to the skies, as the New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania communities question the sudden plethora of drones in the area. But the Hatboro Police Department seems to find itself one drone too heavy, too.
According to a weekend post to its Crime Watch page, the Hatboro police have reported that a lost drone was found in the borough and turned into the department for safe-keeping. According to the post, it was recovered on Saturday in the area of the 400 block of Madison Avenue in the borough.
“A Hatboro resident came across a drone on the ground in their backyard,” said Chief Mark D. Ruegg in the post. “The resident called police and turned the drone over to the police in case a child or anyone had lost it.”
Ruegg said that the drone did not seem “suspicious in nature.” He said that, after the department researched the model, it was clear that the drone was a beginner level device. Police said the device does still turn on and seems to be in proper working order.
If anyone has lost their drone, they can report to the police station to identify it. Alternatively, you may call the department’s Detective Sgt. Dilks at 215-675-2832 to identify the drone and have it returned to you.
The Hatboro Police Administration Building is located at 120 E. Montgomery Ave., in Hatboro. The office is manned 24 hours a day.
