HHSD's Keith Valley Middle School construction on schedule for Fall 2025 opening

Jamie Lynch of CHA Consulting (formerly D’Huy Engineering) was on hand at the recent Hatboro-Horsham School District Board Meeting held on Dec. 2 to provide an update on the construction of the new $125 million Keith Valley Middle School construction project.

There were no additional budget costs reported, and it was revealed that Schreadergroup Architects will have the new Keith Valley Middle School ready to open in fall 2025. The project currently is on time and on budget.

“We are getting to an exciting point in construction where you can’t tell the difference between the renderings and the actual photos,” said Lynch. “There has been a lot of work on the outside. More metal panels and glass are being added every day. Classrooms have been renovated with fresh paint, dry wall, and light fixtures.”

While the building will be ready for students in the upcoming fall season, the administrative staff will begin to move into the building in June 2025.

Construction updates:

• Auditorium duct work has been completed. Waiting to paint the inside black;
• Building Commons (East) place is taking shape. Piping has been installed. Furniture will be delivered next year;
• Classroom wing: rooms are finished construction. Ceilings and light fixtures have been installed. The contactor is holding off on final flooring because it is ahead of schedule. Will be ready to be furnished in early 2025;
• Classroom wing exterior:  glass has been installed, as has metal. Grass growing outside façade.
• East Elevation Loading Dock and Pool: loading dock currently being installed. Equipment in boiler room has been put in; Shell of the pool was placed in November. Stainless gutter system will be installed in the upcoming months;
• Plumbing: hot heat water installed;
• Electrical: electrical equipment has all been delivered and has been installed or waiting to be installed;
• Mechanical: Rooftop ERU units have been insulated. Mechanical piping has been installed. This portion of the project should be online by April;
• Interior finished: not much left to do for classrooms; Vinyl flooring, casework, ceiling tiles have been dropped;
• Additional progress: elevators being installed. Gas has been installed and ready to operate.
• Staff parking lot was paved in November.

It was also reported that Keith Valley Middle School approved the first purchase of IT network infrastructure, as well as a prefabricated maintenance building for the newly constructed site.
