When you don’t quite have enough to create a hot, homecooked meal, fill up the car, or pay the full utility bill, things can be difficult. While plenty of programs exist in our surrounding communities, some also struggle letting someone know they need help.

Adding holidays to the mix, many local families will struggle to make ends meet in the coming weeks. This time of year, especially, can be a tough time on stretched budgets.

But the leadership of Hatboro Baptist Church, located at 32 N. York Road, in Hatboro, wasn’t to take the stigma out of reaching out for a helping hand. It’s OK to seek assistance, and no one should be ashamed to feed their family. Once a month, the church hosts a free meal to-go to give back to the community and help everyone make ends meet.

This month’s meal will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. the free meals are served “to-go” and can even be picked up via a drive-thru service. Best of all, no questions are asked.

This week’s meal will include a holiday-themed menu of roast beef, a baked potato, vegetable, roll, and dessert.

“Pickup for your family, friends, neighbors, for anyone,” said the HBC website. “All are welcome who could use a free meal. No questions asked.”

For those seeking drive-thru service, the church asks guests to enter the church parking lot off of East Montgomery Avenue. Walk-ups are also welcome.

This month’s meal is the first Saturday, though interested parties should stay tuned into the church’s calendar, as it is often held mid-month. While the menu is subject to changes, anyone with questions or a desire to reserve meals can contact [email protected].

Community meals are made possible thanks to the Hatboro Community Cupboard and the Warminster Giant food store. The program, which relies entirely on donations, has served up a total of 22,041 meals according to the church’s website.

The Hatboro Community Cupboard operates thanks to the generosity of multiple churches in the area. St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatboro, The Church of the Advent in Hatboro, and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jamison, all work alongside Hatboro Baptist to support the Cupboard.

For more information, The Hatboro Baptist Church can be reached at 215-675-8400. The church office is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
